Cardiff 2-2 Reading

Reading goal-scorers Kevin Doyle (top) and Brynjar Gunnarsson
Reading goal-scorers Kevin Doyle (top) and Brynjar Gunnarsson celebrate

Reading claimed a point after twice going behind at Cardiff and having Andre Bikey sent off after 30 minutes.

Wayne Routledge's first goal for the club put Cardiff ahead after a neat passing move with Michael Chopra.

Kevin Doyle levelled with a close-range strike but Bikey then saw straight red for an aerial challenge on Chopra.

Ross McCormack's penalty put Cardiff back ahead when keeper Marcus Hahnemann fouled Chopra, but Brynjar Gunnarsson's half-volley rescued the Royals a point.

Cardiff manager Dave Jones:
"We should have seen out the half-time with a clean sheet and maybe come in a couple of goals ahead.

"In the second half, I think the expectation is with (Reading down to) 10 men we should go on, but I think we lost our patience.

"You've got to draw teams out and probe away and they were happy to sit there and try and catch us on the break."

Reading manager Steve Coppell:
"I was very happy to get a point and never question the character of the team.

"But I wasn't happy with the penalty or the red card. I am thankful to Marcus Hahnemann for keeping us in the game.

"It looked to me as though Andre Bikey had won his header and he insists that he did nothing wrong. The referee told me he had thrown a punch."
