Wolves 2-0 Blackpool

Chris Iwelumo scored a goal in each half to see Wolves past Blackpool and keep them six points above Birmingham at the top of the Championship.

Wolves missed numerous chances to open the scoring before Iwelumo found the top corner from just inside the area.

The visitors could have equalised a minute after the restart but Alan Gow shot horribly high from close range.

And when Blackpool goalkeeper Paul Rachubka fumbled on 66 minutes, Iwelumo poked his fourth goal in as many games.

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy:
"It was a vital victory because we have Sheffield United and Birmingham to play next.

"Yes, we have a big lead but I remember us overturning Wigan's 11-point lead at Sunderland and winning it by eight, so there's no complacency.

"There are a lot of twists and turns ahead."

Blackpool manager Simon Grayson:
"We showed them a bit too much respect in the first half and I reminded my players they had to get at them and show what we can do.

"We were the dominant team for 25 minutes before the second goal, then Paul Rachubka made a mistake just after the hour.

"Paul made some really good saves but that mistake was a big point in the game."
