Watford 3-0 QPR

Watford easily brushed aside 10-man QPR at Vicarage Road in Paulo Sousa's first game in charge for the visitors.

Tommy Smith scored from the spot for the struggling Championship side after Damion Stewart pushed Tamas Priskin.

Darren Ward's strike extended their advantage, lashing home defender Jon Harley's cross from the left.

Lee Williamson added a third after a dazzling run by Smith and QPR's misery was compounded with Fitz Hall seeing red after a foul on Will Hoskins.

Watford caretaker manager Malky Mackay:
"To get the three points and come out of the relegation places was important.

"I have to make sure I win more games than I lose.

"I have been immensely proud to be caretaker manager and I put my case forward for the actual managership. I would be delighted to get it."

New QPR boss Paulo Sousa:
"I have been here for two days but I cannot change everything.

"It was a bad performance, especially in the first half. I do not think the players have confidence in themselves and we need to work very hard.

"To change these things we need to work really hard. I believe slowly it will come. I know what I need to do. I believe in these players."
