Bristol City 1-4 Reading

Kevin Doyle
Doyle has been in a rich vein of goalscoring form this season

Reading returned to winning ways by hitting four goals to stun beleaguered Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Two quickfire strikes after 14 and 16 minutes from Kevin Doyle and Noel Hunt, both cool finishes, put the visitors in charge though City battled hard.

Doyle, with his 11th goal of the season, added a third in the 47th minutes and Kalifa Cisse's strike put the game beyond doubt soon after.

Stern John notched a consolation goal in injury time for the home side.

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson:

"We were weak defensively and it was like a knife through butter at times.

"Every player, apart from Stern John, had an off-day but you have to give Reading credit, they looked a very effective outfit.

"We were not angry or committed enough and that has to change before we go to Southampton next week."

Reading boss Steve Coppell:

"I am a firm believer that if you keep producing good performances, results will come.

"We felt we were going to give someone a hiding, now we have to become more consistent because we have let ourselves down on ocassions.

"Winning 3-0 at Wolves this season was a great achievement and this display was comparable."
