Southampton 1-1 Coventry

Clinton Morrison's goal 15 minutes from time earned Coventry a point and kept Southampton in the relegation zone.

Adam Lallana, Jason Euell and Jack Cork all went close for Southampton early on as the Saints dominated the first half.

David McGoldrick drew first blood when he got on the end of a Jake Thomson throw-in to score and end his team's run of 365 minutes without a goal.

This roused Coventry and Morrison levelled when he controlled a long ball forward and shot past Kelvin Davis.

Southampton boss Jan Poortvliet:

"I was pleased with the boys and the way they played tonight but not with the result.

"As a team we played very well and created the chances but just could not put them away.

"At the moment a draw is not good enough for us and we want to win games. I am disappointed with the result but not with the performance."

Coventry boss Chris Coleman:
"Clinton Morrison is showing the rest of the team how to put the ball at the back of the net.

"I always feel any point away from home is good so I can't complain about getting a point in these conditions.

"It was very cold and slippy underfoot for the players and we played good football considering the conditions."
