Doncaster 0-1 Barnsley

Jon Macken's first-half goal gave Barnsley their first away win of the season and left Yorkshire rivals Doncaster deep in trouble.

Macken tapped home from close range three minutes before the interval after good work by Anderson De Silva.

Doncaster will regret a succession of missed chances that have characterised their performances at home this term.

And Barnsley keeper Heinz Muller saved brilliantly from Jason Price's close-range effort in the closing stages.

Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll:

"It's not a confidence thing, you have to have a bit of luck. We are still getting in areas to score, they're just not coming at the minute.

"There are lots of strikers out there but the people who are available are outside our financial category.

"There's a few things we may do but it's not as clear cut as you'd think."

Barnsley manager Simon Davey:

"On our first half display I think we deserved the win. The lads went about the business the right way.

"I knew they'd come out in the second half but we were strong at the back and limited them to long range shots.

"We have to be more nasty and stingy. If we do that we'll pick up results, when you're at home you can be more flamboyant."
