Burnley 3-1 Preston

Chris Eagles' last minute strike sealed the win for Burnley against Preston.

The visitors took the lead when Barry Nicholson scored with a right-foot volley from 10 yards out.

Preston's Michael Hart was carried off on a stretcher and their misery was compounded when Joey Gudjonsson levelled with a 30-yard strike.

Steven Caldwell got the second before North End's Callum Davidson was sent off for deliberate handball on 70 minutes and Eagles added a late third.

Burnley boss Owen Coyne:
"I thought we dominated from start to finish.

"We could have felt sorry for ourselves because we created a few opportunities and never took them.

"But the players showed belief, hunger and desire and it's great credit to them because they delivered when they crossed that white line."

Preston boss Alan Irvine:
"We managed to lose a game when we looked to be in control. We've got to pick ourselves up.

"We didn't pass the ball and we didn't create too many openings. They defended well when they had to but we didn't ask them enough questions.

"Things change quickly in football and we can turn things around."
