Crystal Palace 2-0 Swansea

Goals from Ben Watson and Nick Carle at Selhurst Park secured a first win of the season for Crystal Palace.

Watson, back after a failed transfer move to QPR, curled in a teasing free kick that Swansea keeper Dorus De Vries should have saved for the opener.

The Eagles bossed the midfield and began to find space on the flanks, Paul Ifill tormenting Angel Rangel.

Ifill's cross from the left was met by Carle, De Vries getting a hand to the left-foot shot but failing to stop it.

The defeat was Swansea's first since the opening day of the season.

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock:

"I have no problem with Ben (Watson), especially when he scores goals like that."

"One or two of his acquaintances I have a problem with, but never with him.

"His future is hopefully playing at Wolves on Tuesday. I don't look much beyond that, to be honest, because we're playing for my future as much as his.

"It will be interesting to see who leaves first, if we don't win any more games. He can have a contract tomorrow but he doesn't want one so what can you do?"

Swans boss Roberto Martinez
"We can take a lot of positives out of the game, but it was a disappointing result.

"We controlled the game for spells in the second-half and that reaction was positive.

"The problem we had was that we allowed the goals to affect us in a way I haven't seen before."
