Doncaster 1-0 Coventry

Richie Wellens scored with a 25-yard drive to give Doncaster their first home win in the Championship this term.

Coventry's Freddy Eastwood missed from close range with the goal at his mercy but hit the side netting.

Michael Mifsud, Leon Best and Scott Dann also went close for the visitors, with the latter denied by a goal-line clearance from Rovers' Brian Stock.

Doncaster's Wellens won the game with a fierce shot which flew into the top right-hand corner.

Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll:

"There will be times I'm sure this season when we'll come off the pitch and hold our hands up and say we've been beaten by the better side. So far we have given a good account of ourselves.

"I think any win in this league you've got to be grateful for.

"If it's as tight as it was last year then three points at home is a big boost."

Coventry boss Chris Coleman:

"I think we started really lethargic and looked tired and I can't say that is because of the Newcastle game because that was on Tuesday.

"We just started lethargic and I'm not sure about the balance of the team at the minute.

"We started today without an edge and that was disappointing."
