QPR 2-1 Barnsley

Fitz Hall struck twice in as many minutes then had a penalty saved as QPR came from behind to beat Barnsley.

Iain Hume put Barnsley ahead after five minutes when he slotted home following good work by captain Brian Howard.

But Hall turned in Emmanuel Ledesma's free-kick after 29 minutes then volleyed home Lee Cook's corner.

Hall's spot-kick was saved by Lee Steele after Darren Moore fouled Dexter Blackstock, before Barnsley's Marciano Van Homoet saw red for fouling Ledesma.

QPR boss Iain Dowie:
"Barnsley played well and defensively we were too open. We were a little bit too gung-ho.

"But in the end we got a win out of a potentially difficult situation. It says a lot about our character.

"We got the job done without being great - I'm not going to pretend otherwise. We're delighted with the result, without getting carried away."

Barnsley boss Simon Davey:
"We had a fantastic start to the game with a great finish by Iain Hume to give us the lead.

"We had a bad five minutes and conceded twice from set-pieces, which was disappointing.

"There was only one team in it in the second half. We took the game to them and there was only one side out there.

"We have not won the game which is very disappointing for everybody but there were a lot of positives."
