Southampton 0-0 Coventry

Coventry and Southampton played out a lacklustre draw that did neither of the Championship relegation threatened clubs any favours.

Vincent Pericard squandered Saints' best chance of the first half but blazed over the bar after he was put through by Mario Licka.

Kaspar Schmeichel then denied Stern John who kept out Stern John's header with a spectacular save.

Michael Mifsud came close for City but Richard Wright dealt with his low shot.

  • Southampton manager Nigel Pearson:
"A draw today doesn't do either team much good, but if you lose the ramifications are completely different.

"If we go into every game with that attitude and commitment we will have a much better chance of survival.

"There was always going to be a lot of pressure, but we'll play worse than that and win."

  • Coventry boss Chris Coleman:
"Kasper Schmeichel reminds everyone of his dad Peter - he's got that presence and makes the goal look small.

"He's got lots of confidence. He's still young and he's only going to get better. We're very happy to have him here.

"We know we have to be better at the other end of the pitch but I'm convinced that when we get one, the goals will come back."
