Iain Hume's late equaliser earned Leicester a point at Burnley.
Andy Gray wasted a great early chance for the Clarets when he mis-kicked from six yards out but David Unsworth made no mistake from the same distance.
Burnley continued to press and Robbie Blake and Chris McCann had shots blocked while Gray and Lafferty were both off target with their efforts.
Leicester created little until Richard Stearman's cross fell for Hume to volley home with 12 minutes left.
Burnley boss Owen Coyle
"In the first half we created chance after chance and should have put them to bed.
"Their goalkeeper (Marton Fulop) was in inspired form tonight but some of our
play was terrific and those wins are just round the corner.
"Leicester had one shot on target and we were unfortunate not to win but we are moving in the right direction."
Leicester boss Ian Holloway
"It didn't look like the result was going to come after the first-half performance. They gave us a mauling but in the second half we were better.
"Sometimes football is about character. We bounced back and were left grateful to our goalkeeper.
"To come away from home with a result after the mauling we got showed character and no mean skill."
