Richard Lee's second-half clanger gifted Barnsley victory over Championship pacesetters Watford.
Howard played a key role in Barnsley's win
The Hornets battled back from 2-0 down but keeper Lee somehow managed to punch Brian Howard's flighted cross into his own net with 24 minutes remaining.
Howard's fine volley put the Tykes ahead and Martin Devaney's superb strike doubled the lead on 34 minutes.
But Danny Shittu drew the visitors level with two towering headers late in the first half.
Barnsley boss Simon Davey:
"This was a great advertisement for this league and it was a fantastic win.
"I thought that we defended magnificently and stood strong and the lads deserve a lot of credit.
"Watford are a big strong side and we had to match that and even when we were 2-0 up we knew they would come back at us but we stood strong."
Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd on referee Mike Pike's performance:
"I have had a chat with the referee. Some of the decisions in the second half were mind-boggling.
"I said my piece to the players and we all know that we shouldn't have been 2-0 down.
"We don't want to be two goals behind before we start scoring, and we have got to take our chances."
