Luton 1-2 Plymouth

Basement club Luton are still fighting for life in the Championship despite their defeat to Plymouth.

David Norris gave the visitors a superb start with a headed goal on four minutes after Peter Halmosi's cross.

Mathias Doumbe missed an easy chance before Halmosi made it two just before the break with a 20-yard curler.

Luton's Stephen O'Leary grabbed a scrambled consolation on 51 minutes but the Hatters are not yet down as rivals Hull drew with Colchester.

The defeat leaves Luton eight points adrift of fourth-bottom side Hull with nine points to play for.

Luton manager Kevin Blackwell:
"The players couldn't have been any worse than they were today, and we just hope that's not the level of performance they are capable of.

"I'm not slagging the players off, but we are very, very disappointed with the performance.

"The management have not given up hope yet, and we hope the players haven't either."

Plymouth boss Ian Holloway on Peter Halmosi:
"He's a very good player, but has had to adapt to England.

"In fact I took him around a car boot sale and told him 'It's an English tradition where you take all the rubbish out of your house and sell it on a trestle table'.

"He said, 'It's a supermarket to me!"'
