Billy Clarke's 85th-minute goal gave Ipswich a dramatic late victory over Coventry in an entertaining encounter.
On-loan Mark Noble scored his first Town goal in the 52nd minute when he unleashed a right-footed strike from just inside the six-yard box.
Elliott Ward levelled for Coventry when he crashed home substitute Leon McKenzie's 72nd minute cross.
But substitute Clarke had the final say, cutting in from the left and smashing in an 18-yard drive.
Ipswich manager Jim Magilton on Billy Clarke:
"He is a revelation but I must try to keep his feet on the ground. He was a sub so he will be reporting for training in the morning.
"He has always had something about him. He was injured last term but took it well and is firing on all cylinders."
On on-loan Mark Noble, Jon Macken and Simon Walton, he said: "They are good lads and ambitious young men."
Coventry boss Micky Adams:
"Ipswich took their chances, we didn't. We failed to live up to the standard we showed against Norwich on Saturday.
"To do well in this league you must be very consistent. We have new faces and must find out about each other quickly.
"We knew it would be difficult but I was disappointed with how we conceded."
