Crystal Palace bounced back from a first-half deficit to beat Southend and go top of the Championship table.
Freddy Eastwood scored an 18-yarder just before half-time as the visiting Shrimpers threatened to spoil new Palace boss Peter Taylor's homecoming.
But a powerful 52nd minute header from Leon Cort drew the Eagles level.
Substitute Dougie Freedman sprang the offside trap three minutes later to put the hosts ahead and defender Mark Hudson sealed the points on the hour.
Crystal Palace manager Peter Taylor:
"Words were said at half time, but the players know when they are doing well and when they aren't.
"So we just reminded them about their own standards.
"In the second half, obviously an early goal helped and we went on from
Southend boss Steve Tilson:
"There are lessons to be learned. We conceded from two set plays so we need to be stronger in the box.
"And, for the second goal, we were trying to play offside.
"Overall we played some good stuff and I'm pleased with the performance. I've told the lads if we play like that week in week out then we'll be fine."
