Preston 2-0 Wolverhampton
Lewis Neal and Brett Ormerod struck in each half to ease Preston to a fifth straight victory as a lacklustre Wolves side disappointed at Deepdale.

North End, already guaranteed a play-off spot before kick off, took the lead in the 41st minute when Neal's strike deflected in off Joleon Lescott.

Ormerod then sealed it with a fine header from Chris Sedgwick's cross.

Rob Edwards had Wolves' best effort saved, while Ormerod sustained a head injury when he scored to mar the win.

  • Preston assistant manager David Kelly:
"Brett deserved his goal because when there's a ball in there and the keeper's coming straight at you you've got to be a brave man.

"He got concussed and they've taken him to hospital to check him over. We've told him he's Sir Tom Finney.

"We're a pretty brave team and Brett just typifies the rest of the team."

  • Wolves manager Glenn Hoddle:
"The first goal was a poor goal. It was a wicked deflection and there was no way the ball would have gone in the net.

"It changed the momentum and turned the game upside down for us.

"You're always disappointed when you've lost. That's the sort of luck we've had at the moment. We weren't at our very best but the first goal changed it."
