Goals from Richard Cresswell and skipper Paul Butler handed Leeds a hard-earned victory against QPR.
Cresswell put the home side ahead after 39 minutes when he headed home Eddie Lewis' left-wing cross.
Leeds continued to attack with purpose after the restart but were again left frustrated for long periods.
But the points were secured six minutes from time when skipper Butler rose high from six yards to nod home another fine cross from Lewis.
Leeds head coach John Carver:
"It wasn't pretty and it was a little bit scrappy but overall I'm delighted with the result.
"I thought we tried to play good football but took one too many passes at times.
"When you have got quality players like Eddie in the side, that can often be the difference between winning and losing matches."
QPR boss Ian Holloway:
"I've never seen anything like it. Four of our back five were new to the side but they showed me a lot.
"At times we huffed and puffed a little though and the difference was their chances were crisp and concise.
"They then bring Rob Hulse and Robbie Blake on in the second half and that just goes to rub salt into the wounds a little bit."
