Watford 3-1 Wolves
Ashley Young inspired Watford to victory at Vicarage Road.

Young created all three goals for Watford, sending in a well-flighted corner for Jay DeMerit to head their opener midway through the second half.

Young then fed Marlon King who fired into the net via a deflection off Jody Craddock before Paul Devlin headed home from a corner from close range.

A 10-yard strike from Seol Ki-Hyeon was no consolation for Wolves, who dominated for long periods.

  • Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd pays tribute to Ben Foster and Ashley Young:
"We have to thank Ben Foster for what he did in the first half. That's what he is paid to do, and he did it.

"Young players will always have peaks and troughs. He has had a few peaks this season - but today he proved why Manchester United paid 1million to sign him from Stoke in the summer.

"We have changed all our phone numbers, so people can ring up and ask about Ashley all they like.

"But we are not going to sell anybody. We want to get into the Premiership, so we will leave it to other clubs to sell their best players. We want to be buying when the window re-opens."

  • Wolves manager Glenn Hoddle:
"We are killing ourselves by not taking chances. You can imagine what went on in the dressing room afterwards.

"We are beating ourselves, because we are not punishing teams. We should have been two or three goals up at half-time.

"It's sickening to lose the game, but if you don't defend corners properly then you can expect to be punished."
