Darren Purse's penalty strike gave Cardiff victory at Ninian Park
|
Darren Purse and Jason Koumas, recent recruits from West Brom, helped Cardiff come from behind to beat Leeds.
The Yorkshire visitors took the lead in the 22nd minute, when Robbie Blake got on the end of David Healy's cross.
But Koumas sparked a second-half revival at Ninian Park, coming off the bench to fire home left-footed after Kevin Cooper's pass sent him clear.
Purse completed the turnaround from the penalty spot, blasting home after Matt Kilgallon's handball in the Leeds area.
Cardiff manager Dave Jones:
"I'm not relieved with the result because I thought we were the better team - we had made one mistake in the first half and it cost us a goal.
"We kept pegging away and everyone did the jobs we asked of them, even though Jason Koumas will probably get the headlines.
"He still has a long way to go to get fully fit and he has done everything asked of him since being at this club."
Leeds assistant manager Sam Ellis:
"It was crucial to lose Paul Butler, but we still shouldn't have let Cardiff back into the game after dominating the first half.
"We were a little unlucky with the penalty decision, but really have no complaints about the result.
"The players know how we feel, but that is all kept in the dressing-room and now we start preparation for our next match."
