Watford 1-0 Millwall
Watford claimed their first win in six games but made hard work of overcoming Millwall, who spent nearly half the match with Daniel Dichio sent off.

Heidar Helguson's goal 15 minutes from time was enough to see off a Lions outfit that had won four games in five.

Dichio walked in the 53rd minute for a second bookable offence after fouling Shaun Dyche, a challenge that injured the defender and ended his afternoon.

Finally substitute Anthony McNamee crossed for Helguson to volley home.

  • Watford boss Ray Lewington:

"On the balance of play I thought we deserved to win but after 10 home games without a league win I have been saying we needed a bit of luck to go our way.

"That certainly happened today, not only with the sending-off but also the fact Millwall should have equalised in the last minute but instead hit the post."

  • Millwall manager Dennis Wise on Daniel Dichio's sending off:

"Sean Dyche came off with a towel over his head but when he took it off there was nothing there. There was no cut.

"Danny was booked earlier after Dyche had elbowed him. It was understandable that Danny was upset by this and retaliated."
