An own goal from Chris Makin denied Leicester a win after Dion Dublin had given the visitors the lead against his former club.
Leicester dominated the first half and, although Coventry started strongly after the break, Dublin put the Foxes ahead at Highfield Road.
Dublin stroked home from the edge of the six-yard box after the lively David Connolly's ball.
But Makin misdirected the ball into his own net to earn Coventry a point.
Leicester caretaker boss Dave Bassett:
"I'd like to be considered for the manager's post but the board know that. If they don't think I'm
the right person, they won't select me.
They've got to make sure, no matter who they go for, is that they get the right manager.
"I've only been with them three days and you can't change a team round straight away, you need to work at it.
"A lot of the things we need to work on to improve take two or three weeks to bed in."
Coventry boss Peter Reid:
"If I was a betting man I'd have had a few quid on Dion to score first, he's
a great professional and always gives everything.
"We played very well up to the final third but we just need to be able to
pick people out better than we did.
"We've got to start winning games but if we carry on like that we'll get there."
