Leicester reject name change
Leicester fans vote
Leicester fans have the final say and vote to stay as City
Leicester City fans have voted overwhelmingly not to change their name back to Leicester Fosse.

New chairman Jon Holmes, installed after a consortium took over the club, launched a campaign to revert to the club's original team name.

But fans gave the idea the thumbs down in a half-time vote during Leicester's 4-0 win over Wimbledon on Saturday.

The majority of Foxes fans held up "C" cards, indicating they wanted the club to continue to be called City.

An announcement at the end of Saturday's game gave fans the news that their votes really had counted, declaring "City would remain City forever."

Holmes had wanted to wipe the slate clean for the promotion hopefuls as they gradually come out of administration.

It was also believed that re-branding the club could have financial advantages.

But Leicester boss Micky Adams believes it is important that the fans had the final say.

"I'm delighted for them that they can see a rosy future for this football club," he told the club's website.

"I think it was quite obvious during the game that there was only ever going to be one decision made by the fans."
