Ipswich 4-1 Millwall

Resurgent Ipswich stretched their unbeaten run to six games with a confident victory against Millwall.

Second-half goals from substitutes Marcus Bent and Jermaine Wright, along with a brace from Tommy Miller, saw Ipswich keep the Division One play-offs in their sights.

Steven Reid netted the Lions' consolation.

The Tractor Boys ploughed straight into the attack, Jim Magilton volleying just over the bar within 35 seconds.

But Millwall were also quick out of the blocks and Andy Marshall was forced into a flying save to deny Dennis Wise after four minutes.

The frenetic early pace continued as Pablo Counago saw his shot parried by Tony Warner and then Magilton's intelligent eighth-minute lob rebounded off the woodwork.

Again, Millwall responded and Marshall did well to stop Steve Claridge's shot after 10 minutes.

Ipswich brought on Bent and Darren Ambrose after 52 minutes as manager Joe Royle shuffled his pack in a tactical switch that changed the game.

Bent went close with two snap shots and then Ambrose teed up Miller to give Ipswich a stunning 56th-minute lead.

Miller celebrated early with a brilliant shot from 20 yards which gave Warner no chance.

Millwall deservedly hauled themselves level after 63 minutes. Harris crossed from the right and Reid hammered the ball home from the edge of the area.

The home side regained the lead after 74 minutes through former Millwall trainee Wright, who crashed home a spectacular shot from fully 30 yards.

Ipswich wrapped up the points four minutes later when Bent calmly converted Jamie Clapham's left-wing cross.

Indeed, they rubbed salt into Millwall's wounds five minutes from time when Miller scored from the penalty spot after Robert Ryan fouled Ambrose.
