Stoke 0-2 Wolves

Wolves left it late but made their second-half dominance count with victory over Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.

Colin Cameron returned from injury to set the ball rolling with a superb solo strike 12 minutes from time.

And Wales striker Nathan Blake added a second with the last kick of the match to lift the pressure on manager Dave Jones following five defeats in their six league outings.

After a first half where chances were few and far between, it was just reward for Wolves who controlled the second half and only Stoke keeper Neil Cutler prevented a bigger winning margin.

Potters caretaker boss Dave Kevan, who was in charge for the first time since Steve Cotterill quit to become number two at Sunderland, was boosted by the return of Brynjar Gunnarsson and Andy Cooke.

Wolves were without the suspended Paul Butler in defence and gave a debut to 19-year-old Mark Clyde.

He was partnered by 20-year-old Joleon Lescott, although their lack of experience was not in evidence as they snuffed out Stoke's attacking threat.

Midfielder Shaun Newton had the first real opportunity of the game for Wolves, but he dragged his 25-yard effort wide after nine minutes.

Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray fumbled Jurgen Vandeurzen's right-wing cross in the 16th minute, but the Potters could not capitalise and Cameron cleared for a corner.

Denis Irwin's left-wing cross after 25 minutes created havoc in the Stoke defence and Nathan Blake and Kenny Miller could not get a foot on the ball and the home side cleared.

Cooke had the ball in the Wolves net on the half-hour, but the effort was ruled out by a linesman's flag for offside after Murray had parried Vandeurzen's shot from a well-worked Stoke free-kick.

Miller forced a good save from Cutler two minutes before the interval, and seconds later at the other end Murray had to be alert to turn away Peter Hoekstra's rasping shot.

Miller had a great opportunity two minutes after the interval but hooked his effort over the bar from six yards.

Gunnarsson drove wide for the hosts before Stoke full-back Clive Clarke slipped, allowing Newton to race clear but he could not find the final ball.

Jones' side continued to press forward and Alex Rae forced a superb save from Cutler after Miller picked him out.

Rae then drilled another chance narrowly wide of Cutler's right post before the pressure finally told.

Cameron picked the ball up 35 yards out and beat four Stoke defenders before his deflected shot beat Cutler.

Blake wrapped up the points when he burst down the left wing and cut inside before firing in from the edge of the box two minutes into injury-time.
