Eoin Jess and Mark Bower scored the goals that put a dent in Wimbledon's Division One play-off aspirations.

Jess headed the ball home from close range on the half hour to open the scoring before Bower sealed the victory with his second goal of the season after 67 minutes.

David Connolly scored a late consolation from the penalty spot but the win was thoroughly deserved for Nicky Law's side.

Bradford were the first to threaten when defender David Wetherall's header was saved by Kelvin Davis from close range.

Mark Bower's weak shot went harmlessly over the crossbar after 28 minutes before the visitors deservedly went ahead on the half hour.

Former Everton striker Danny Cadamarteri found space on the right and his cross found the unmarked Jess who glanced the ball home from a couple of yards out for his 14th goal of the campaign.

Positive response

The hosts immediately tried to respond but Neil Shipperley's shot from 25 yards was comfortably saved by Alan Combe and Neal Ardley's weak shot went wide a minute later.

Wimbledon pressed in the early stages of the second half as they sought an equaliser, Connolly's left-foot shot going close before a Karlsson effort was saved by Combe after 50 minutes.

But Bradford doubled the lead midway through the second period when Claus Jorgensen crossed and Bower stabbed a left-foot shot home from close range.

Cadamarteri almost made it three when his left-foot shot went wide after 81 minutes.

Lewis Emanuel was then replaced by Lee Sharpe due to a serious injury before Connolly slotted home a penalty after a handball by Wetherall.
