Gillingham and Wimbledon fought-out the second successive goalless draw between the two clubs at Priestfield.

Gills' top scorer Marlon King missed a late chance to settle the game but put his shot wide after a cross by defender Mark Patterson.

The Dons, who beat Gillingham 3-1 back in October, played the ball around with a fair degree of confidence - as befits a side who toppled leaders Manchester City last week.

Iffy Onuora headed wide for the Gills early on, while at the other end Patrick Agyemang was denied on the half-hour by home goalkeeper Vince Bartram.

Fierce effort

Wimbledon midfielders Kevin Cooper, Michael Hughes and Neil Ardley all worked hard to create openings for the visitors.

But Ardley's final touch eluded him as he sent a couple of efforts wide of the target.

Gillingham's best chance came when King broke through but saw his fierce effort turned away by Kelvin Davies.

Then player-manager Andy Hessenthaler sent on Simon Osborn in place of Marcus Browning and Wimbledon replaced Agyemang with youngster Lionel Morgan.

Hessenthaler, also on as a substitute, immediately added bite to the Gillingham midfield.

He and Michael Hughes were involved in a minor spat after the two had gone in hard on each other but he could not change the course of the game.

Gillingham: Bartram, Patterson, Ashby, Hope, Perpetuini, Browning, Smith, Gooden, Shaw, Onuora, King. Subs: Butters, Nosworthy, Hessenthaler, Ipoua, Osborn.

Wimbledon: Davis, Holloway, Cunningham, Hawkins, Andersen, Ardley, Hughes, Cooper, Francis, Shipperley, Agyemang. Subs: Kimble, Willmott, Morgan, McAnuff, Gore.
