Crouch tipped for the top
Crouch has made a good start to his Portsmouth career
Crouch has made a good start to his Portsmouth career
Portsmouth manager Graham Rix says striker Peter Crouch has a big future in the game.

Crouch scored his 10th goal of the season against Burnley on Saturday and Rix said: "Peter is quality and he can only get better.

"People go on about his ability in the air but that is only part of it."

Burnley took the lead through Gareth Taylor before Crouch's equaliser.

"This is a great result for us because Burnley are up there on merit and likely to stay there," added Rix.

"We showed great spirit and togetherness and this is a result I would have snapped up beforehand."

Clarets manager Stan Ternent was not pleased about having to settle for a share of the points.

"We're frustrated because we felt we had done enough to have won but when you play a team like Portsmouth you're not up against no-hopers and a point is a point.

"I am not complaining but we did not get a break all afternoon."
