QPR 1-3 Blackburn

QPR continue to plunge towards relegation after they threw away an early lead to lose at home to promotion chasing Blackburn Rovers.

The club was placed in administration this week with massive debts and any potential buyers will undoubtedly be looking at a likely Second Division side next season.

The London side are now without a win in eight games, but it had looked so different in the opening 15 minutes after they snatched the lead.

Ian Baraclough's chipped free-kick was fumbled by keeper Brad Friedel and from the following corner, Chris Plummer rose to head firmly into the top corner.

Andy Thomson, Peter Crouch and Stuart Wardley had all gone close before the goal, but the strike sparked Blackburn into life.

Second-half improvements

Marcus Bent nodded just wide before David Dunn forced a fine save from Lee Harper with a vicious 25-yard free-kick, but on 24 minutes the visitors finally grabbed the equaliser.

The Rangers marking was poor, as Matt Jansen fed Bent in the box and when he was allowed to square the ball, Dunn beat Harper easily from six yards.

Rovers stepped up the pace and on 38 minutes Dunn beat Harper from 20 yards, but saw his shot hit the top of the crossbar.

Dunn turned provider as he lobbed a ball over the top and Jansen out-paced Karl Ready and Baraclough before slotting the ball into the corner.

QPR boss Ian Holloway introduced on-loan striker Leon Knight and debutant Oliver Burgess to try and turn things round.

After 85 minutes Blackburn caught QPR on the break to make it three.

Bent's cross was pulled back by Jansen to Dunn and he set up substitute Eyal Berkovic to score from close range.

QPR: Harper, Rose, Plummer, Ready, Baraclough, Wardley, Bignot, Peacock, Bruce, Thomson, Crouch. Subs: Miklosko, Knight, Kulcsar, Koejoe, Burgess.

Blackburn: Friedel, Curtis, Berg, Short, Gillespie, Mahon, Flitcroft, Dunn, Duff, Jansen, Bent. Subs: Filan, Bjornebye, Hughes, Hignett, Berkovic.

Referee: J P Robinson (Hull).
