"Fulham were neat but wasteful"

Fulham's Lee Clark
"We're not thinking about celebrations"

Fulham 3-1 Tranmere
Luis Boa Morte
Luis Boa Morte was Fulham's scoring star
Luis Boa Morte scored twice to secure Fulham's sixth successive home win and condemn Tranmere to their fifth consecutive away defeat.

Tranmere had taken the lead in the seventh minute. Jason Koumas picked up a clearance from defence, ran through the home defence and slotted his shot wide of goalkeeper Maik Taylor.

Fulham levelled in the 21st minute when a good passing movement was finished off in style by a 20-yard drive from Lee Clark.

Boa Morte put them ahead six minutes later when full-back Rufus Brevett beat the offside trap, raced down the left, and crossed for the ex-Arsenal man to score at the far post.

Fulham deserved to win. But they did not perform as well as they can today, and that's all credit to our lads.
  John Aldridge, Tranmere manager
The third goal came in the 50th minute when Clark picked out Boa Morte who beat two defenders and drove his shot beyond helpless goalkeeper Thomas Myhre.

Rovers were more adventurous in the second half but there was no doubt that Fulham were worthy winners.

Tranmere manager John Aldridge admitted as much after the match.

He said: "We scored a good goal but then we took our feet off the pedals.

"Our trouble is a lack of self-belief. I was quite pleased with our performance because we certainly restricted their chances.

"But they had three good finishes, and that's a measure of how good they are.

"Fulham deserved to win. If they get injuries they've got good players on the bench. But they did not perform as well as they can today, and that's all credit to our lads.

We had the confidence and ability to step up a gear.
  Lee Clark
"We can take things away from this game - but we do lack confidence away from home."

Fulham midfielder Lee Clark was happy with his team's display.

"I am pleased to beat Tranmere because they are one of the hardest-working teams in this division, and it's always difficult.

And he was also looking forward to big games coming up.

He added: "Now we come to the festive period, and with four games in eight days it's a very important time for us.

"The cup tie is a nice bonus. But it's points we want, and we're not even thinking of Manchester United yet.

"The League is our priority, and there is still half a season to go."
