Harrogate Town sign midfielder Ian Ross from Alfreton

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver has made his first new signing for the forthcoming season.

Former Alfreton Town central midfielder Ian Ross has agreed terms to move to the CNG Stadium.

Ross, 25, began his career at Sheffield United and has also played for at Boston United, Bury, Notts County and Rotherham United.

He joined Alfreton in 2009 and was part of the squad that won the Blue Square Bet North title.

Defender Matt Bloomer has also agreed a new deal to stay at the CNG Stadium for a third season. He joined Harrogate Town in 2009 and has made 83 appearances so far.

Meanwhile Weaver has released three of last season's squad. Defender Craig James, midfielder Steve Bowey and striker Gary King have all been told they are free to look for new clubs.
