Grimsby 0-1 Altrincham

Altrincham kept their hopes of staying in the Blue Square Bet Premier alive thanks to victory at Grimsby.

Mark Hudson fired wide and later headed over from close range as the home side looked for an opener.

Marc Joseph headed in off a Ryan Brown corner to put the visitors into the lead just after the break.

Alty would have been relegated had they failed to win and goalkeeper Craig Dootson denied Michael Cummins' late effort to send them down.

The Robins are just two points off safety, with an inferior goal difference, with one game left.

They face already-relegated Eastbourne on the final day, knowing that only a win would give them hope of survival.

Alty would also need teams around them to lose if they were to avoid relegation to the Blue Square Bet North.
