Worcester City slip to home defeat against Guiseley

Worcester City

Worcester City slipped to their ninth home defeat of the Blue Square Bet North season as Guiseley kept alive their play-off hopes with a narrow win.

Daryl Stamp had strong claims for a late first-half penalty turned down but he put his side ahead on 51 minutes.

Top scorer Danny Glover levelled for City when he scored direct from a free kick 13 minutes later.

But Guiseley secured all three points 15 minutes from time courtesy of a 30-yard lob from skipper Simon Ainge.

Worcester City assistant manager Mark Clyde told BBC Hereford and Worcester:

"We can play some nice football at times and yes, we can complain about the pitch which isn't the best.

"The lads are still trying to play and you have got to give them credit for that.

"Sometimes they will try and play in the wrong areas but they will learn and generally this season the lads have played well."
