Poole Town boss Tom Killick has urged his side to focus on winning Zamaretto League status after Whitley Bay ended their FA Vase run on Saturday.

Poole, who lost the semi-final to Whitley 5-2 on aggregate, are second in the Wessex Premier, three points below an automatic promotion place.

Killick told BBC Radio Solent: "The league is so important to us as it can get us into the Southern League.

"We have to be mentally strong and ready and give it our best shot."

Poole, have won the Wessex Premier Division in each of the last two seasons, but have been denied promotion to the Zamaretto League because the facilities at their Tatnam Park home are unsuitable.

However, the club have a meeting with the Borough of Poole Council on 14 April where they hope their plans for a new £2m stadium at Bearwood will finally be accepted.

"I'm desperately hoping it will be OK," said the Dolphins boss.

"I feel the club and the players deserve to be in the Southern League and I hope that goes well.

"But we got to back that up by winning these games, we have to realise the importance of the league and try and approach the remaining games as best we can."

Poole must now play three games in seven days starting with Tuesday's visit from Fareham Town, they then entertain Bemerton Heath Harlequins on Thursday before Blackford & Langley on Saturday.
