Poole Town boss calls for caution ahead of FA Vase tie

Poole Town boss Tom Killick has warned his side not to get carried away by their FA Vase quarter-final tie with Torpoint Athletic on Saturday.

Poole, who knocked out Northern League champions Spennymoor Town in the fifth round, are a league above Torpoint.

Killick told BBC Radio Solent: "This is the furthest we've ever gone, and the players get very excited about it.

"But they cannot get too carried away or emotional about it. It's a big day and they need a cool head in the game."

The Dolphins boss added: "Torpoint Athletic must not be underestimated, they will be strong opposition and no one connected to the club should feel otherwise, it will be a big test for us.

"But it's one of those competitions that it doesn't mean an awful lot until you get to the final, so the players have to be mindful that if we get knocked out this Saturday we won't be hugely remembered."

Poole have been drawn at home for every round in the competition so far, and Killick admits the home advantage has helped his side progress in the tournament.

"Home draws have been brilliant for us, we couldn't have asked for more because the home advantage is big," he said.

"I do think last year when we got knocked out by Whitley Bay, the fact the game was away was a deciding factor.

"They weren't a better side than us but it was hostile environment than what we are used to and the level of travelling took it's toll on us on the day."
