York 2-1 Gateshead

Leon Constantine's penalty helped York overcome 10-man Gateshead.

Jonathan Smith gave the hosts the lead when he latched on to Peter Till's pass and fired into the bottom corner.

James Curtis levelled the scores when he headed home debutant Adam Rundle's corner, but Constantine grabbed the winner from the spot.

The penalty was awarded after Kris Gate brought down City's Smith in the area, and Gate saw red shortly afterwards for another poor tackle on the same man.
