Dorchester Town sign Crawley Town's Chris Flood

Dorchester Town

Dorchester Town have signed Crawley Town winger Chris Flood following his one month loan spell at the club.

Flood, 21, who has made four starts for the Blue Square Bet South side, signed the deal after his contract at Crawley was cancelled by mutual consent.

"I'm over the moon to get him on board," Magpies boss Ashley Vickers told the Dorset Echo newspaper.

"He's a decent young man and we'll look after him. He has shown his commitment to us and he'll fit in really well."

Vickers added: "He's shown that he has good morals as well, as he could have tried to hold out for more money elsewhere.

Flood, who has previously spent time at Forest Green Rovers, joined Crawley from Salisbury City in July 2010 after scoring nine goals in 50 appearances for the club.

With the deal being completed on Friday, the winger was able to retain his place in the starting line-up for Dorchester's goalless draw with Boreham Wood.

"The chairman Shaun Hearn made a commitment to sign him and I'm really grateful for that," said Vickers.

"I'm also thankful for the all work he, David Martin [vice-chairman] and Keith Kellaway [general manager] did in making sure Chris was able to play on Saturday."
