Blue Square Bet North side Blyth Spartans have extended the loan spell of Carlisle United goalkeeper Mark Gillespie for a further two months.

The 18-year-old joined Spartans on an initial one-month deal and has kept four clean sheets in five appearances.

"Mark has done really well, he is enjoying being involved," Carlisle boss Greg Abbott told the club website.

"We think it is of benefit to him to allow him to stay as he is involved in regular competitive football."

Abbott continued: "We're happy for him to stay and hopefully he will gain more confidence from it as the spell goes on."

Gillespie made his full debut for Carlisle on the final day of the 2009-10 season in a 2-0 win at home to Norwich City.
