Liam Daish 'bitter' about Ebbsfleet United relegation

Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish is still "bitter" about last season's relegation from the Blue Square Premier.

The Fleet moved up to fifth in Blue Square Bet South with Tuesday's 4-0 win over Welling.

But Daish told BBC Radio Kent: "I'd rather be up where I was. I'm still very bitter and I don't enjoy being in this division.

"I think the team I have now - with maybe a few from last year that I had to let go - would have stayed up."

He added: "However, we've had a good start this season whereas last year, for whatever reason, we had a poor start.

"The good start gains momentum and gains confidence. You've got points on the board and everyone feels a bit better."

Two goals from Michael West and one each for Calum Willock and Joe Howe secured Fleet's win over Welling at Stonebridge Road.

Michael West scored twice on Tuesday, before Calum Willock and Joe Howe also got on the scoresheet for the Fleet at Stonebridge Road.

"It was a great first half," said Daish. "I thought we really came out the blocks very quickly and passed the ball well.

"We were very positive and decisive, our finishing was good and we defended well."
