Dave Savage stays with Oxford City

Midfielder Dave Savage will remain at Oxford City despite becoming the subject of an approach by St Neots.

The former Northampton Town, Bristol Rovers and Oxford United player, missed City's 0-0 draw with Halesowen Town on Tuesday night.

City manager Mike Ford said:"We are very pleased as this has been hanging around for a week now.

"I don't think money was ever the issue for Dave it was just about how he was going to finish his career."

He added: "He sees the challenge of getting us into a mid-table position a bigger and better challenge than trying to win promotion with St Neots."

Ford also confirmed that goalkeeper Richard Knight has been allowed to leave Court Place Farm after the distance from his Derbyshire home proved problematic.

City are yet to win a match in the Southern League Premier Division this season, but have now chalked up six draws, leaving them second bottom.

Weymouth, who suffered a points deduction, prop up the table.

Didcot Town allowed Swindon Supermarine to leapfrog them in the table after the Wiltshire side won 4-1 at Loop Meadow in another Southern League Premier Division game.

Brackley are through to the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy after winning a replay against Burnham 4-0, with former Oxford United forwards Steve Basham and Francis Green both on target.

The Saints will face Windsor and Eton in the next round.

Banbury United needed extra time to come through their replay at Wimborne, but progressed to face Billericay after a 3-1 win.
