Maidstone United part company with manager Peter Nott

Nott became manager in February

Ryman League side Maidstone United are searching for a new manager after Peter Nott was sacked just eight months after taking charge.

Nott helped guide the club away from relegation last season but they are currently bottom of the Ryman Premier.

Chief executive Bill Williams told the club's website: "It's always very difficult to make decisions like this.

"Especially when you are dealing with someone who has been here a very long time and given all he possibly can."

He added: "But we have had a dreadful run, sit bottom of the table and something had to be done."

The former Stones reserves manager took charge of the senior side in February from Lloyd Hume and Alan Walker.

The news of his departure came just days after the club got their first home win of the season - a 2-0 victory over Burgess Hill Town in the FA Trophy.

The Stones have already started the recruiting process and may even have a new manager installed for Tuesday night's game at home to Hendon.
