Wrexham 2-1 Southport

Blue Square Bet Premier

Wrexham extended their unbeaten league run to seven matches as their fragile defence survived a Southport fightback.

Delightful build-up play from Andy Mangan and then Jay Harris set up Gareth Taylor for a neat finish, despite calls for offside.

Taylor fed Jamie Tolley whose saved shot fell to Harris to make it 2-0.

Southport rallied as keeper Chris Maxwell failed to get near Paul Barratt's cross to allow Steve Daly a simple header, but the Dragons held on.

That will have pleased the Racecourse faithful who have seen their side let too many leads slip this season, five of Wrexham's last seven games having ended in draws.
