Farnborough 2-1 Dartford

King is managing his second club at this level

Farnborough finally notched up their first win in the Blue Square Bet South as a Dean McDonald brace beat Dartford.

The striker opened the scoring on 12 minutes, and added his second from the penalty spot 20 minutes into the second half after Kezie Ibe was up-ended.

Farnborough had to weather a strong finish from the Kent side who scored though sub Lee Noble on 88 minutes.

Farnborough manager Steve King told BBC Surrey: "It was a game we dominated until the last 10 minutes really."

He added: "We should have had more goals in the first half. Our wayward finishing disappoints me. We're making great chances.

"The emphasis is on us to go and attack teams at home. If we'd taken our chances it could have been five. Dartford weren't in the game until they started throwing long-balls forward."

Farnborough were not able to add many players to their squad in the summer, but King thinks they can cope with what will have been six games in a fortnight.

"We've definitely got the squad to cope," he said. "We've got options in this squad, which we need. We've got 18, 19 players, and they're all good enough to come in."
