Grays 0-2 Wrexham

Blue Square Premier

Wrexham eased to victory at already-relegated Grays Athletic thanks to a goal in each half from Ashley Westwood and then Neil Taylor.

Westwood broke the deadlock after half an hour, rising highest to meet a Mark Jones free-kick and loop home a header.

Grays refused to throw in the towel despite their Blue Square Premier league fate being decided last week.

But the Dragons made sure on 76 minutes when Curtis Obeng's cross was met with a stunning volley by Taylor.

Grays Athletic manager Julian Dicks told BBC Essex:

"It wasn't the best of games, we had a couple of chances in the first half, but football is all about scoring goals.

"We seem to get the ball and then want to get rid of it as soon as possible - if we had a bit of composure and get the ball wide.

"But we didn't get any balls into the box and we didn't create anything."

Wrexham manager Dean Saunders:
"I'm really pleased, we kept a clean sheet again and we've scored two goals, two good goals.

"Ashley Westwood [hurt] his medial ligaments on Thursday and I didn't think he could play... but he's gone out there, played well and scored.

"And well played to the fans who've come from Wrexham today... thanks to them for coming all this way."
