Luton Town 2-1 Oxford United

Luton Town toppled Oxford United from the head of the Blue Square Premier table with a stunning two-goal injury- time finale at Kenilworth Road.

Matt Green's deflected close-range strike looked to have kept Oxford clear of nearest rivals Stevenage.

But George Pilkington headed home three minutes into injury time to level.

And Keith Keane's inswinging corner then curled straight in to win it for Luton, although Keane was sent off for his celebration - his second caution.

The win means that the Hatters' neighbours Stevenage Borough, 3-1 winners at home to Mansfield, now go top again, three points clear of stunned Oxford.

Luton's victory lifts them into the Blue Square Premier play-off zone - 11 points behind Stevenage.

U's forward Alfie Potter had the first chance of an entertaining first half, his 18-yard drive being saved by Mark Tyler, who also had to scramble to keep out Sam Deering's 35-yard effort.

At the other end Tom Craddock powered a close-range header straight at Ryan Clarke, who also saved long-distance efforts from Asa Hall and Craddock.

The Hatters lost Liam Hatch to injury on the hour, almost conceding a goal shortly afterwards when a Damian Batt free-kick found Jack Midson but his header was caught by Tyler.

But Oxford did break the deadlock when substitute Matthew Green, who had only been on the pitch for two minutes, got on the end of Simon Clist's knock-down.

The home side piled forward in search of a late equaliser, Claude Gnakpa, Adam Newton and Rossi Jarvis all going close.

And their persistence was rewarded at the death when Keane's corner was headed home by Pilkington.

But the Hatters were not finished, Keane sensationally scoring straight from their final corner, only to be unfortunately sent off for his over-zealous celebration.
