Southport will go into this Saturday's home game with Ilkeston Town looking to consolidate their six-point lead at the top of the Blue Square North table.
Five straight league wins, including a 5-1 win over promotion rivals Eastwood, have put Liam Watson's men in command.
And Watson said: "It sends out a bit of a warning. If anyone comes here and has a go at us we can hurt them.
"Eastwood were joint top with us and we've ended up wining 5-1," Watson told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"I think the teams that have sat and tried to soak up pressure have been really hard.
"Hopefully teams come here and they have a go at us."
Watson is hoping that will be the case at home to Ilkeston.
"If Ilkeston have a go at us, hopefully they will leave a little bit of space," said Watson. "And, with the pace in the team, we can go and hurt them."
Southport finished fifth in last season's Blue Square North, making the play-offs, only to be beaten at the semi-final stage by Gateshead, the team who were eventually promoted.
