Wilson proud of Ilkeston exploits

Ilkeston Town manager Kevin Wilson said he was proud of his players despite seeing their FA Cup dream end at the hands of Cambridge United.

The Blue Square North side were beaten 4-0 by their Blue Square Premier opponents but Wilson says his players gave a good account of themselves.

He told BBC Radio Derby: "We had a good run. But we now have to dust ourselves down and get back to the league.

"We did ourselves proud and that says a lot for the people at the club."

The Robins trailed 1-0 to an early goal but it was only in the final 26 minutes that Cambridge eased home.

If you want to go higher then you cannot make individual errors and we've paid the price for that

Wilson added: "I think 4-0 was a bit flattering for them; they had their best spell in the last 10 minutes.

"We caused them a few problems but it was a little bit too much for us.

"Now we have to build ourselves up and move on and enjoy the experience.

"We take all the positives and we have to go and learn. If you want to go higher then you cannot make individual errors we've paid the price for that.

"The fans have been brilliant, the players have been fantastic and maybe we can have a run in the FA Trophy now."

The Robins are away to Nicky Law's Alfreton Town on Tuesday.
