Victory boosts Boston confidence

Boston United joint-manager Rob Scott believes their 3-1 win against North Ferriby United will restore confidence among fans and players.

It ended a run of three games without victory and took the Pilgrims to third in the Unibond Premier division.

Scott told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "If the fans are a bit agitated it can carry across to the players so this win is worth a lot more than three points.

"They've overcome a few demons and they now know that they can do it."

The Pilgrims trailed to Alex Davidson's 19th-minute goal but Marc Newsham levelled a minute before the break.

Two second-half goals from Spencer Weir-Daley on his first start sealed the win.

Scott added: "In the last nine games we've won six, lost two and drawn one which is a great record, but we've clumped the wins and losses together which is why the picture looks a bit distorted.

"The lads want to believe and they want to go on and achieve things so it gives them a bit more belief to add to what they had previously."

Elsewhere former Boston striker Ricky Miller scored a hat-trick as Stamford beat county rivals Grantham Town 4-0 in the Unibond First Division South, with Paul Malone also on target for the Daniels.

Goals from Matt Evans and Simon Mowbray earned Spalding United a 2-0 victory over basement side Willenhall Town, taking the Tulips out of the bottom two at the expense of Lincoln united who lost 2-0 at Mickleover Sports.
