Kent derby delight in Trophy draw

Non League

The draw for the third round of the FA Trophy generated excitement for Kent football fans with three derby matches to look forward to.

The pick of the draw will see high-flying Dartford travel to Blue Square South side Dover.

Welling will host the Tonbridge Angels and in-form Bromley have been given a home tie against Maidstone.

Dover boss Andy Hessenthaler told BBC Radio Kent: "It's a massive game for the fans, but a tough draw."

Dartford lead the Ryman Premier by 13 points and Hessenthaler said it would be a tough tie.

"We beat them twice last year in the league and I'm sure they'll be wanting to get revenge at the Crabble," Hessenthaler said.

And Darts boss Tony Burman said the tie would generate local interest.

"It's a massive game for two big sides, but it will be difficult away from home," he said.

The other Kent derbies also see Blue Square South side's playing against Ryman Premier opposition, but Maidstone manager Lloyd Hume believes his side could create an upset.

Hume told BBC Radio Kent: "We'll be going there hoping to win the game. There's a lot of people in my side who have played at a higher level and we will be looking to test ourselves and them."

Ramsgate meanwhile were awarded with a home tie against Bishop's Stortford.

The games will be played on the weekend of the 21 November 2009.
