Money moved to Luton after working at the Newcastle academy
Richard Money's reign at Kenilworth Road got off to a miserable start as two late goals gave Rushden & Diamonds their first ever victory against Luton.
The Hatters started the game well but missed a host of chances and also had two goals disallowed for offside.
And Luton were made to pay when Kevin Nicholls was dispossessed with seven minutes left and Lee Tomlin broke away to fire inside the right hand post.
Rushden substitute Mark Byrne then lobbed Mark Tyler to secure the points.
The result moves Rushden up to sixth in the table, just three points behind Luton, but still trailing league leaders Oxford by 14 points.
Luton: Tyler, Asafu-Adjaye, White (Murray 75), Pilkington, Howells, Newton, Nicholls, Hall (Burgess 60), Jarvis (Gnakpa 71), Craddock, Gallen.
